I hope everyone had a great weekend. We had a busy, but fun one!
Our weekend started out with one of the best quiches I've ever made - if you know me at all, then you know I'm not the best of cooks! It was a last minute quiche (a.k.a. nothing else to eat for breakfast), so I was pretty damn proud of myself for making something so tasty. I spent the rest of Saturday morning drinking coffee and cleaning up around the house, which was much needed after all the freaking rain we've been getting, and making a big pile of things to get rid of for the community-wide garage sale coming up in a few weeks.
Saturday night was spent with friends drinking lots of good wine (we love a good wine party). The hostess did such an amazing job decorating for the party, and the hors d'oeuvres were so on point! We brought a caprese dip, which was ridiculously easy to make: Cubed mozzarella, sliced cherry tomatoes, pesto, and some spinach popped in the oven (475 degrees) for 10 to 15 minutes until bubbly and melty, serve with flatbread crackers.
Sunday morning we had the most perfect weather, so we took a little family outing to the local arboretum and botanic gardens. Our little outdoorsy babe loved it! After lunch, though, we got this sporadic crazy thunderstorm with pea-sized hail... which ended up being the perfect weather for naps and cuddles indoors. :)
Now it's Monday, again (it never fails). We woke up to breezy, gorgeous weather, which helps make this Monday a little easier, especially since I got peed on bright & early this morning (thanks, baby B).
Have the best week!

Mom Life
Hey there! Long time no blog... The past 14 weeks have been totally and completely consumed with little baby cuteness (if you follow me in Instagram, then you know what I mean) and trying to get our new life on somewhat of a routine. Mom life has been absolutely amazing - sleep deprived and definitely learning something new everyday, but amazing none the less. Baby B is only already three months old, and he's changed and grown so much right before our eyes.
He's put some meat on those bones and is starting to grow hair on the top of his head; no more old-man-horseshoe-hairstyle, even though it was hilariously adorable! He's wanting to sit up all the time, even though he can't quite do it by himself yet (just ordered this chair & I can't wait for it to come in!! you know you're a parent when...). He's very talkative, smiley and wiggly, and all the daycare ladies just love him (but really, can you blame them?). His favorite things right now are ceiling fans, his musical activity mat, being sung to, watching sports with Dad, and the outdoors. Oh, and he has to have his monkey!
Mister man also has quite the personality for a little three month old, and he's not afraid to look at us as if we're two crazy people and he can't believe he has to live with us. I think we're pretty entertaining. He'll get used to us. One day.
As soon as it seemed as if we were getting the hang of things at home, I had to go back to work. So now we're slowly trying to adjust to this new schedule. I'm up at 4:45 am most mornings (if the snooze button doesn't get the best of me) and going until around 10:00 pm (on a good day) when we finally hit the sheets. So, this doesn't leave much time for blogging or crafts, but I hope to get some good posts in here-and-there on this new chapter in my life. In the meantime, be sure to follow me on Instagram!
Thank you to those of you who still follow my blog, even though it's been pretty quiet here lately, it means so much to me to see that you're still checking-in.

Newborn Photos
I know I've been absent lately, but taking care of a newborn has consumed majority of my time! So, to make up for the lack of posts, I wanted to share my handsome man's newborn photographs.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

B is for Baby
On January 8th at 11:40 a.m., we welcomed the arrival of our 6lbs 3oz sweet baby boy and have never been more smitten!
During dinner on Tuesday, January 6th, I felt what I thought to be my very first contraction, so I asked the hubs to tell me what time it was - 8:00 p.m. on the dot - so I could start timing them just in case. At this point they were coming about every 45 minutes to an hour, and were not painful at all.
When I woke up Wednesday morning to start getting ready for work, I noticed that I was still getting that jabbing sensation, but now it was about every 25 to 30 minutes apart. I decided to text my step mom and sister to see if this could be the real thing - I didn't know what to expect, being my first baby and all. They both believed me to be in the early stages of labor, so I did what anyone would do and downloaded a contraction timer app!
As the day went on, all I could think about was, "I'm in labor and I'm at work, what the hell am I thinking?" So, I finished up some of the more important things at work and decided to head home, catching the 1:57 p.m. bus. Still timing the contractions, which are still around 20ish minutes apart, I got home and did some last minute laundry and painted my nails - because what else is a girl in early labor supposed to do?! The hubs got off early that day, so he made me an early dinner and helped me time my contractions.
The in-laws stopped by to drop off the bassinet mattress (perfect timing) and stuck around for a bit, hoping it'd be time to rush to the hospital. Between 7:30 and 9:00 my contractions started getting much closer together; like, 5 to 10 minutes apart! The hubs started getting all our bags ready by the door and we were planning on heading to the hospital. However, shortly thereafter, my contractions subsided a little bit and we decided to stick it out at home until they were closer together again. The in-laws left the house to go grab dinner, but were on call!
We decided to try and get some sleep - we both thought nothing would really happen that night considering the contractions got further apart (back to 20ish minutes). Midnight rolls around and I am having some pretty painful contractions, which were about 8 minutes apart. I decided to give my doctor a call and see if I should head into the hospital due to the pain. She advised that I needed to be having a contraction every 3 to 5 minutes before heading to the hospital. Then, as soon as I hung up the phone, my contractions went from 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 minutes apart... It's baby time!! The hubs rushed to get everything into the car and get it warmed up, because it was literally the coldest day ever!!! I rolled out of bed, crying, and full of emotions andwaddled walked to the truck. The ride to the hospital seemed like the fastest ride ever - maybe because it was 2 a.m. and we were the only ones on the road.
We got to the hospital and were checked into triage, where they told me I was 6 cm and was there to stay. I quickly requested an epidural (I think this was the first words out of my mouth after they said I was there to stay), but was told I'd have to wait at least 30 minutes because he was in an emergency c-section. If you know me at all, then you know I am not a fan of needles. So, the epidural scared the shit out of me. Luckily, I had a pretty amazing anesthesiologist and he numbed me up real good so I didn't feel a thing. Both mine and the hub's parents, as well as my friend E, kept us company at the hospital, drinking plenty of coffee to help stay awake. By this time, I was at 8 cm. Unfortunately, the epidural slowed down my contractions a bit, so the nurse gave me some pitocin to get the contractions closer together. At about 9 a.m. (let's be honest, no one was really keeping track of the time) my water broke, so my nurse got in contact with my doctor.
Before we knew it, it was pushing time. After 10 minutes and 7 or 8 pushes, I heard the most beautiful cry I've ever heard! I took advantage of the "Golden Hour" (skin-to-skin bonding immediately after he was born for an hour), which was one of the most amazing moments in my life.
People always say they can't remember what life was like before they had their child(ren). I never fully understood what they meant until baby B came into our lives. Life may be different and difficult at times, but it's so amazing now that he's apart of it and I couldn't imagine life without him. We are so very blessed to call this little boy our son.
Thank you to all our family and friends for the love and well wishes, it means the world to us! Also, a special thanks to Tony Chicas Photography for capturing these sweet moments after baby B's birth.

Pregnancy Update: 9 Months
Today is my due date! Well, was my due date. I started this post a couple weeks ago unaware that I would not have time to complete it. If you follow me on Instagram (@matkinson87), then you know that we welcomed our baby boy two weeks early! So much for finishing my 9 Month Pregnancy Update post... but since I did start one, here it is - short & sweet.

I cannot believe I'm already here. Nine months. Wow!
Looking back, I feel like it was just May 2014 when I told the hubs that our little family of two will soon turn into a family of three (+ 2 dogs)!!

This month baby is fully developed and his main job until his arrival is to gain weight. At my 36-week appointment, baby measured a weight of approximately 5lbs 1oz and is estimated to gain a half-pound each week until he is born. So, if we make it to my due date of January 22nd he'll be right around 7lbs. Also at that appointment, we had an ultrasound and got to see him! However, he's so low it was hard to get a good look at his face, which were covered by his little hands anyways. :)
My doctor has made it clear that baby can come any day now, so both mine and baby B's hospital bags are packed and are ready when he is.

The babe's bag was much more fun to pack than mine ;) |

That's all I had for my 9 Month Pregnancy Update before baby B decided to make his arrival. In my next post I hope to share my birth story with all of you. :)

The Nursery
When I thought about the nursery, I imagined it being calm and soft, but very boyish. I wanted a room that we wouldn't get tired of and have to re-do over and over. I also didn't imagine having a themed nursery. And while I don't think the theme is over the top, there certainly is no shortage of sports memorabilia.
A handful of the books on the shelves (custom made by my dad) are the hub's old children's books (big thanks to his mom for keeping all of them!). We definitely can't wait to read these books from his childhood to baby B!
If you remember how the room looked before, you know how happy we are with this outcome! This room looks like a completely different space, and is everything we hoped it would be. Now all we're missing is our little boy!
